For power, SE models get the standard 3.3-liter V6. Paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, this engine makes 175 horsepower. The standard engine on SXT models is a 197-hp 3.8-liter V6, and it's mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The third engine offers the most power, and takes the Grand caravan from a subpar performing vehicle to a minivan with great acceleration, passing power, and handling - it's an optional 251-hp 4.0-liter V6 and available for the SXT only. It's teamed with the six-speed transmission, and it brings with it a sport-tuned suspension.
The '10 Dodge Grand Caravan is boxy, but it's attractive in an SUV kind of way. The hood is less fairly flat, and it bears character lines. The grille is very upright, making the Dodge crosshair grille look like that of a Dodge truck, especially in chrome. Sixteen-inch wheels are standard, but the optional five-spoke 17s look better. The Grand Caravan is the second largest minivan on the market, smaller than only the Nissan Quest.
Dodge Minivan Cabin
The Caravan's important interior feature is Stow 'n Go seating. This system enables owners to fold both the second- and third-row seats into the floor, or flip the third-row split bench completely rearward to provide tailgate seating. The 2010 Grand Caravan may not be a leader in handling and performance, but its cabin design makes up for that all. One interesting option is Swivel 'n Go seating, which offers second-row captain's chairs that turn 180 degrees to face the third row. These seats are also more comfortable than the standard Stow 'n Go middle buckets. Numerous entertainment options are also available. A three-zone video entertainment system allows front, middle and rear-seat passengers to view or listen to separate entertainment sources, and passengers can enjoy Sirius Backseat TV as an available option.
Dodge Grand Caravan SE ($23,530) comes with Stow 'n Go as standard. Also standard on the SE are cloth upholstery, air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, heated power mirrors, power windows and locks, remote keyless entry, four-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo, conversation mirror, and P225/65R16 tires on steel wheels with wheel covers. The Dodge Grand Caravan is an elongated version of the now-defunct Caravan, America's original minivan and one of Dodge's biggest success stories in recent decades. Like its sibling, the Chrysler Town & Country, the Grand Caravan has long offered roominess, versatility and value -- especially for growing families with lots of kids and cargo to haul around. It may not be the best handling minivan or highest quality interior, but its features and ease of use make it a top runner in the market. It also has plenty of available safety features including a rear view camera and standard side curtain airbags and makes busy family life one step easier in every day life.
