Jeep Compass Capability

The new Jeep Compass is powered by a 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 engine that generates 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with your choice of transmission:

• 6-speed manual transmission
• 6-speed automatic transmission
• 9-speed automatic transmission

The 9-speed automatic transmission also includes Autostick technology, which allows you to manually change gears during those times you want a little more control over your driving experience. Plus, the engine comes with Engine Stop/Start technology.

This helps prevent unnecessary fuel use by turning off the engine while idling at stop signs or traffic lights. It seamlessly starts back up again when you hit the gas.

All this machinery combines its power to help you tow a maximum of 2,000 pounds when properly equipped.

Interior Dimensions and Cargo Space

Whether you’re toting cargo, passengers, or both, you’ll have all the space you need for a successful outing. In total, the Compass interior can fit 59.8 cubic feet of cargo when the rear seats are folded down. If you need to bring along passengers, you’ll still have 27.2 cubic feet of trunk space.

Speaking of passengers, you can accommodate five, including the driver. You can stretch out and get comfortable in the 126.7 cubic feet of passenger volume. This includes the following dimensions:

• Headroom (front/rear): 39.2/38.5 inches
• Legroom (front/rear): 41.8/38.3 inches

To really maximize on your interior space, you can take advantage of the 60/40 split-folding rear seats. These let you choose how you split your cabin between cargo and passengers.

Even with a car full of people, the height-adjustable cargo floor lets you make the most of your trunk space by letting you adjust the load floor up to three levels to accommodate a variety of items.

2019 Compass Safety Features

The Jeep Compass wants every drive to be a success, so it comes with a variety of available safety features designed to help you be more aware of your surroundings when you hit the road. This includes features like Blind Spot Monitoring.

Blind Spot Monitoring helps you merge or change lanes more safely by providing a visual cue when another vehicle enters your side blind spot.

It also has available rain-sensitive windshield wipers that automatically turn on and adjust their speed based on the rate of precipitation on the windshield.

One of our favorite sensor systems is Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go. This automatically modifies your cruise control speed when you approach slower-moving traffic on the highway. It can even bring you to a complete stop if you encounter standstill traffic and get you moving again later.
