Towing Capacity

Both trucks are designed to haul your heaviest cargo. The 2020 Ram 1500’s towing capacity can reach up to 12,750 pounds when properly equipped. That gives your truck the ability to pull a large trailer, a boat, or a camper. It’s easy to keep your cargo steady and in line with your trailer, too, thanks to Trailer Sway Control.

The Ram also offers lots of features that make towing safe and easy. For starters, the ParkView® Rear Back-Up Camera features dynamic grid lines that’ll help you line up with your trailer before you hit the road. You can also add a 360-degree Surround-View Camera System that gives you an overhead view of your truck and tow hitch.

You’ll have an easy time changing lanes too. With Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Path and Trailer Detection, your truck will let you know when the coast is clear.

The GMC Sierra also comes with Trailer Sway Control and offers both a camera system and blind spot monitoring. However, it can only tow up to 12,100 pounds when properly equipped.

Truck Bed

The 2020 Ram 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 are both built to carry lots of heavy gear in the truck bed too. They also offer some convenient amenities like tie-down hooks, power outlets, and durable bedliners. The Ram lets you get closer to your cargo with a multifunction tailgate. It’s built with 60/40-split doors that can swing open or drop down like a traditional tailgate.

The GMC also offers a versatile tailgate that can quickly turn into a bed step or bed extender. One thing that sets the Ram’s truck bed apart, though, is the RamBox® Cargo Management System. It turns both walls of your truck bed into hidden storage compartments. They’re both weather-proof and feature a drain, so you can keep things dry, wash them out, or load them up with ice and drinks. Plus, with their own locks, you can store tools and valuables in them too.

On the other hand, the 2020 Sierra doesn’t have any hidden cargo compartments in the truck bed.
