Since these two SUVs come with the same great engine, they provide similar output. In the Compass, the engine produces 177 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, in the Renegade, the powertrain creates 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The Renegade also offers an available 1.3L turbo 4-cylinder engine that generates 177 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque.
Though their standard engines are the same, the transmissions in the Compass and Renegade differ. The Compass comes standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the Renegade features a 9-speed automatic transmission. While not standard, a 9-speed transmission is available in the Compass.
