Link Up with the Kevin Kitchnefsky Foundation for Spinal Cord Research
Looking for ways to positively contribute to your community? The Kevin Kitchnefsky Foundation for Spinal Cord Research offers engaging ways to support spinal cord research and fellow residents through annual social events.
Below, you will find information about the history of the organization, annual events, and how you can get involved today!
Kevin Kitchnefsky Foundation: Persevering Post Paralysis
In 1996, Kevin Kitchnefsky suffered from a construction accident resulting in several broken vertebrae and spinal cord damage. Ultimately, Kevin became paralyzed from the chest down. After returning to his home community of Tunkhannock, PA, Kevin started working with Christopher Reeve of the Paralysis Foundation.
Moving forward, Kevin continued to contribute his energy towards finding a cure for paralysis caused by spinal cord injuries. Later, in 1999, Kevin hosted his first golf tournament to raise money for research and aid for neighboring residents with paralysis. Since 2000, the foundation has donated over $500,000 to both causes.
Through annual fundraising events, the Kevin Kitchnefsky Foundation brings people together to support those struggling from paralysis by providing transportation, necessary equipment, and medical aid to people in need.
Fundraising Events to Cure Paralysis
In addition to the annual golf tournament fundraiser that started it all, the Kevin Kitchnefsky Foundation also hosts the HarvestFest fundraiser. This festival overflows with family-fun activities, like face painting, pony rides, and delicious autumn-themed refreshments. HarvestFest hits home with attendees both young and old!
Other ways to contribute include spreading awareness, sponsoring the foundation, and raising money for research. By hosting a fundraising event through your local group or club, you can collect donations while also spreading the word. The next time you participate in a run, walk, or bike ride, donate the contributions to the Kevin Kitchnefsky Foundation.
